Well after my Radeon 32MB DDR crapped all over itself, i decided to install 98 and format my hard drive.
Pumped up the juice and my Celeron II 700 now does 997 @ 2.2v stable, just that for some reason the sink gets really hott, gotta change fan direction. It run 18C idle and 49C Full load. If i run sandra burn in, it just says it made an illegal operation after about 3 mins, but doesn't reboot. YEA!!!

Not so happy tho....wish i had my Radeon......... : ''''''''''''''(

2.2V is what gets your heatsink so damn hot! My celemine700 was very unwillingly (what PCI (and IDE) speeds do you have at 89Mhz FSB?) and I didn't wanna take it above 1.95V so I traded it in for the new 800 which ran 1Ghz at default. Any program reporting errors after 3 minutes means it's not stable! I have been upto 1048 (8*131 ) and it seemed 100% but when I do get a lockup or program that crashes back to the desktop, it just isn't! It's that simple. When it happens I take it one step down and see what happens next. I am now at 1024 (8*128 ) with 1.8V

Lancelot is correct. that hsf is hot due to the high volts being put thru the chip.

Too much higher and that chip is going to turn into a puddle of goo......49c is extremely high!

I wish you'd lower that setting before something else goes south on you.

That C700 just won't make 1GHz (most of those C700's won't)....you really should sell IT, and hang on to the P///, until you can put the money together to get a P///700E.

Ok, not quite that far......lol

Go back to 1.9v, and see what you can get there.

Those temps are great...1.9v, and they'll still be in the ballpark of where you want to be, temp wise.

Just got my Asus/P/// setup and running.....

Asus P3C2000 mb, Alpha P3125 hsf, P///600E, 1.95v, 156FSB. 954MHz.

Testing stability now.............

hehehehehehe

Hey Carmine- do you keep your room very cold? You are saying 15c at idle- that's only 59 degrees f and would make most people VERY uncomfortable. If your room temperatures are normal, your temperature display is QUESTIONABLE to say the least. Most people keep their rooms around 70f and that's 21c. The heatsink CAN NOT be cooler than ambient air temperature without active cooling.

Get a thermometer and find out what the temperature is next to your computer and then correct your readings AT LEAST that much. Then you will be able to see what's going on within reason. If you can obtain a digital thermometer with a remote probe stick it through a slot and measure the case temp internally- then you know what the minimum temp your heatsink can be.
