The Asus P3C2000 is in.
The P/// 600E slot 1 is in.
The vcore is set to 1.95v.
The FSB is set to 156.

I am now running at 954 MHz. Seems stable thus far, but have yet to really test it. Have yet to install the balance of my benchmarking apps, etc....

YEEEEEHAAAA!!!!!!!

The Alpha P3125 is working beautifully.

And I have to go and get my happy @$$ in the shower, for dinner at the in-laws (corned beef and cabbage, St. Patrick's Day, you know....=) ).

BTW....I actually have awesome in-laws...I like my mother in law more than my birth mother...(LOOOOONG story).

Anyways....my Sandra cpu benches are still a bit off what I was getting with the Celeron 600 at 1GHz+, but I know the better L2 cache of the P/// makes up for it elsewhere.

I'll keep you posted on the stability of this setup.......

ignore sandra that chip would be faster thatn a cel 600 at a gig even if you only had it at 800mhz due to the 133mhz fsb, at 954 it is probabally about as fast as a celeron at more than 1.1ghz

1/2 hour of Sandra CPU Burn-in, stable thus far.

Dinner time! More testing later....

Does anyone know the ID for the clock generator of this Asus P3C2000 mb?? I'd like to setup SoftFSB to do a bit more testing at higher settings, and it's a pain to keep rebooting to change the FSB..

Thanks

I have found that generally you can pick any board or clock gen in softfsb and it will work but to find what clock gen you have have a look on your board, it is either near the agp slot (to the right of it) or up in the top right hand corner, it will have a silver chip (the quartz) next to it.

Tried all of the "clock gen" settings in SoftFSB, and none worked with the Asus. Looks like I'm SOL there.

The P/// is holding up quite well at 159 FSB (954 MHz). I'm hoping time will slowly bring oh...around 7 more MHz of FSB hehe. Don't see it happening, but....

I said a few days ago I'd be happy as a pig in shiznick if the P/// would hold 950+ stable. I seem to, in fact, have gotten what I'd hoped for.

WTFG Mr B!

Thanks, Slake!

Been running all kinds of 3D intensive stuff tonight, and so far it's taken everything I can throw at it.

I've gotten that system I'm selling my co-worker up and running. He's going to buy my old V2 1000, as well. With all of the parts, and a bit for setting it up, I'll be getting $300. My next wave of shopping will include;

30 or 40 GB 7200 hdd
17" monitor
SB Live Value PCI sound card
Blue Orb for the GeForce2
3 or 4, 3 to 4 pin power adapters. I want to plug the fans into the PSU, and stop drawing the volts from the mb.
2x Delta 38 cfm 60x60x25 fans, for the P3125.

Then, I'm broke again....hehehe =).

I knew the higher vcore settings the Asus had over the Soyo would do the trick.

I might blow off the monitor, and get a 2nd case/cd/floppy, and build a 2nd rig for myself, around the Soyo/Celeron 1GHz combo.

Decisions, decisions.....

Ran it all night doing every cpu intensive thing I know of...

Rock solid at 954. It's in the database when Skip updates.

59 % overclock.....not too shabby for the ol' P///.

I've now got a "1 GHz" Celeron 600 as a backup cpu....hehehe.

Thanks for all the help guys....this chip rocks!

Nice job MR B!!! I just might pick myself up one of those chips instead of my P3 700! Tell me how it goes!

Update on the Celeron II 700

does 903 1.7v
966 2.05v

I think i might run it @ 966 but not sure yet

MR B.....not sure if you have a Sam's Club near you, but 40 gig WD ATA 100 7200 rpm drives are $130 and 60 gig (same specs) are $155.

Way to go Mr.B!
my 600E does about the same..slightly more, but you are still playing with yorn...so maybe you'll beat my score, I like the 600E, it has killer bandwidth, when overclocked, and if you turned yours down to 933mhz, I'm sure it will blow away any stock 933 PIII, because of the high bus.
That Alpha is killer ain't it?

Nope, never seen/heard of one near here (just south of Boston, MA), but the CompUSA next town over has Maxtor hdd's same specs, same price, as what you've mentioned. I'm hoping when the $$ comes my way for the rig I'm selling, there will be a nice juicy $50 MIR that week on one of those drives.

Having a bit of a problem with the BIOS on the Asus.....won't always run at 159/954. Sometimes I have to back down to 153/918, or it defaults back to 100/600. WHEN it boots at 954, it's rock solid. I need to go to Asus's site and look for a BIOS upgrade, if there is one for a mb this new.

Having another small problem with the high FSB and my ISA sound card...as Win98 is loading, and the "sound" icon in the taskbar comes up, I get a BSOD that is fixed everytime by just hitting the space bar. Gotta get that PCI card soon......

Wish it would hit 166 FSB, then they'd all be back in spec, and I wouldn't have the problem at all...(and I'd also have 996 MHz, hehehe)

(singing) "A tweaking I will go, a tweaking I will go, high ho a merry o.........

Hey B-

If you want to get a few more MHz out of that chip head over to my website (in my sig) and check out the article on spread spectrum.

Also, what are you running for a VIO? A little extra VIO might get a few more MHz FSB as well. The lack of a VIO adjustment is all that is stopping me from running my memory at 150MHz, I'm trying to figure out how to hack the second voltage regualtor on my board (yeah, my board has two of 'em) for an increase in VIO.

Well, if he's in the Boston area than there's at least one Sam's withing a few hours drive, down here in Hartford, CT. But, since you have to be a member to buy stuff, if you're not already than the extra money for the membership just to buy a HD, you'd be better off getting one elsewhere. *chuckles* Amusingly enough, PriceWatch has a WD 40Gig 7200RPM listed for about $160 shipped from a place called Sam's Computers Inc. :p
