View Full Version : Celeron 600 - AOpen MB
I just bought the AX34 mobo and a 600 Celeron II and I am trying to overclock it. Right now it is at 600MHz(9x66.8). The problem is that there is no 'CPU Voltage Setting' (which there should be according to the manual) in the 'Chipset Features Setup' menu of the BIOS setup which is 1.09(the latest). I also tried to change the FSB speed in the BIOS or on the mobo to anything other than 66 and it won't boot. While changing the fsb settings, I also tried every combination of setting the RAM speed (x2-x4 PCI). No go.
Here is what I have:
64MB PC100 SDRAM - 128 more coming soon
Crappy, old video card - ATI Rage IIC(only 2MB) - could this be the problem? I'm sure it is, but I am trying to get out of buying a new one. ;) If so, what card would be good for this board and overclocking? If I buy a new video card, will the BIOS 'voltage settings' show up, so I can overclock it?
W98se
Netgear NIC
USRobotics 56k modem
On-board sound
Quantum Bigfoot TS 12.7GB HDD ultra33
Acer CDRW 10x8x32
36x CDROM
Golden Orb heatsink/fan
Front and rear fans
Thanks for input in advance! I appreciate it.

I'm a bit at a loss...is the mb a slot or s370 board??
Usually the 600 will at least get 75 FSB before you have to think about raising the vcore, but....
Look in the manual, and see if there are any jumpers you missed. Sounds like that might be a possibility. Could be the BIOS version on this board is older than what is described in the manual, and that's why you don't have the options there.
When you can figure out how to adjust the vcore, don't go too far, with that Gorb cooling the cpu. They're only really good for about 900MHz or so. After that, they start getting a bit on the weak side, and just cant keep up w/ the heat. I put an Alpha PEP66 on mine, and the difference in temps was amazing. Plus, I got another 4 or 5 MHz of FSB, to boot!
Raising the vcore is the key here. When you can figure out how to do this on that mb, you'll be fine.....

Thanks Mr. B!
I have a socket 370. I did FINALLY get 75.01 MHz last night, so I'm at 675.06. The next setting in the BIOS is 83.3, but that won't even boot up.
There is only one jumper on the mb for frequency - 66, 75 and 100.
The BIOS is definitely the latest. I went to VIA's website and another website that has all the upgrades. I sent two e-mails to AOpen last week, but I'm sure I will never hear from them.
Does my older video card have anything to do with the vcore settings not showing up?
Do you know of any software that allows you to change the vcore settings?
Thanks!

With AOpen boards you need to get the "Pro" version to get all the O/C features.
