hi, I have a few questions for CPUCooL users. It says it could get my pentium II 400 mhz up to 666 mhz, which is about the max a pentium 2 or celeron can go, according to someone on this board. But it cant be that easy, if all you got to do is download a program and hit a few buttons, then why would we do it the hard way? So my question is why does it say it can do that? There is no way it can actually do that, is there? And if so, then how does it do that so easily, and wouldnt you have to get some extra cooling units if it actually did get it up that high? Also why doesnt it warn you about it overheating? None of this makes since, so I dont really think it can do it. Someone please give me some more info!

yes these types of programs do work. there mostly used to let unstable chips hit higher numbers. one of the hardest things for a borderline chip to do is load windows. so the idear is to load windows at default speed and then tune it up just under the blue screen of death. i use mine all the time on my p3 800e. 1025ish for network 3d games. 1050ish for cruzing the net, 1075ish for seti. theres no need to change it all the time but after a while you find the max you can do for certain aplications and as long as you stay under your all set. try it out its fun

Really? Wow!! Well now for the big question, if it really is that easy then why do we do it the hard way? Also I tried to change my FSB and it kept saying error reading PLL. Why does it say this? I had my motherboard, and PLL manufacture right, so why did it say this? Also, how long does it take for the program to sucsesfully change the FSB? Reason I ask is becasue it actually did something once, but I had to unplug my computer because it wasnt doing anything. If I had waited longer would It have changed the FSB? or would I still of had to unplug it? Please help me out some more, thanks.

im not sure why its not working for you. did you read the info directly off your clock generator or from your manuel? i havnt used this exact program because i have a vp6, but on mine it takes about a sec to write the new clock rate. you could try softfsb or some other programs avalible at tweakfiles.com last i checked there was three or four clocking programs. the reason that some one would do it the hard way is if they wanted to run there chip 110% stable all the time with no use of going higher. for me that would probly be around 1000-1020 but with the program i can crunch seti at 1075 ish. so thats my biggest use. the next step if you cant find a program to work for you is to make a new post. include the modo name and softfsb in the title. that way 10 guys with your set up will tell you there experience. have fun

Also, I had all the info correct. And why the subject SoftFSB? That is the name of a program I tried, it didnt even support my motherboard. The link you gave me was cool, but it only had 2 prgrams there, one was softfsb, and the other was CPUCooL, which I already have. Are there any others that might work with my system?
