hey question about the hyperx 3000 @ newegg

Not sure if they are guaranteed or not, but as long as the advertised RAM timing is 2,2,2,6 it should have BH-5 chips. I got my KHX PC3000 from ZZF in December and a buddy got his from newegg recently... both had BH-5 chips. Write down the model number from newegg and see if it's the same stuff at CompUSA.

Recently, many people that ordered the KHX3000 got CH5 on their sticks. Most of these people ordered from Newegg. Like batboy said, make sure it is guaranteed to run 2-2-2-6 timings, otherwise its not BH5

Not sure if either of those places will still carry KHX3000. At my local BB, the only HyperX they still carry is the PC4000 stuff. Not sure what CompUSA has though.

I cant really estimate what kind of FSB you should expect, since every system is different in its overclockability.

If you decide to check out the KHX3200, make sure to look at the Non-A stuff. The Non-A is guaranteed 2-2-2-6, and has the BH5 chips. The A stuff has CH5 and is only guaranteed 2-2-3-6.

Each Bestbuy and CompUSA will have varying stock. I was just saying that the nearest BB to me doesnt have it :)

KHX use to be available with BH5 chips. This was months and months ago. You wont be able to get KHX3500 with BH5 retail anywhere. You might get lucky and find smoeone who will sell you some used.

2-2-2-6 timings are the timings that guarantee BH5 in KHX

RAM with BH-5 chips are drying up fast. Mushkin level 2 still uses BH-5 chips. Within a month or two, there will be no more RAM available with BH-5 chips.

That sure looks like BH-5 to me. It's rated 2,2,2,6,1T so it should have BH-5 chips.

One or two have said they received CH-5 chips after removing the heatspreaders on their KHX3000.

The newer it is, the more of a chance it's CH-5. Even if rated for 2-2-2.

Purchasing it from CompUSA or other resellers besides NewEgg and even ZipZoomFly (NewEgg and ZZF move too much inventory) would be a good bet for BH-5.

bah... but i wanna get 1gb of bh5 for 200 like from zipzoomfly, but bestbuy sell em for 114 plus in tennessee tax are like 9.50% DANGGG... should i just wait for the upcomming computer show thats in feburary 7 ? either that or ebay
