Perhaps there is an over voltage situation. Get a UPS and install the monitoring software. If there is a voltage spike, it will kick in.

Additionally, have all these machines been plugged into the same wall jack or on the same circuit in the house?

the duron is hooked to the same strip as mine one in my sig is in the basement, the 750MHz and one of the 2000's died where in the same place as my sig and the 2000 was in the same pc as the duron when it died, so they have all died in my basement. ill look in to a UPS some are not to bad of price thanks for the info

I think i found the problem the outlet we where using was behind some self's so i moved them and tryed a dif surge protector and it set off a fault site so now i know not to plug my computer in there anymore at the cost of 4 chips

No apology needed, infact, thank you for this thread, becuase if I ever have something die twice in a row, I will think of this thread and move it to a different circut.

Sorry to hear about all of the equipment loss.

I would recommend everyone use a UPS backup. I would not risk my thousands of invested money with a surge suppressor. They dont work anyway.

Only something that actually monitors the power from the wall and filters the power to clean it should be used. I've used a CyberPower 700 AVR UPS for years now and it has always been reliable and gives plenty of time to shut down the computer if the power goes out. I replaced the lead acid battery in the UPS just last week after 3 years of continuous use, so I guess you can call them reliable.

For that matter I think its worth the 2 minutes to inspect the wall outlet your going to use. If a plug is not held in tightly I would not use that outlet until the outlet is replaced with a new unit. They are cheap, maybe 3 dollars.

Buying an outlet tester that checks for proper wiring and grounding is a good idea also. They are less than ten bucks and have idiot proof lights and a diagram explaining the lights right on the tester. Better safe than sorry as deadman311 just found out.

im gonig to look in to getting a UPS here soon ill give that one a look right now i got it hooked to a better surge protector closer to my PC only bad thing is its hooked to the switch in the stair way so my dad like to turn off the light at night.

Monday im gonig to call AMD and get the two 2000's send back to get replaced only bad thing is i dont have a heatsink for one since it blew a few months ago as for the duron its now just for looks and im happy i found it before my 2800 went that would of been bad

thank you all for the reply's gives me some ideas to protect myself in the future take care

No Problem one nice thing is im not getting the blue screen of death we where thinking that the spike was hiting my ram and giving me the blue screen of death which might of saved my CPU
