Hei, I got an pentium 3 800 with 100fsb. My last pentium 450 i overclocked to 600(100@133fsb) without any probs and no extra cooling, even went as high as 144fsb. But now with my brandnew 800 (boxed)i have probs overclocking at all. Even at 880mhz(110fsb) it sometimes frez during 3Dmark. Any higher it want boot into windows. The tempature does not seem to be a problem(22-25). Can anyone please help me with my problem. What can i do??????

My spec are:

have you upped teh voltage at all?

Are you using the the same components as in the old system? you may wanna try to remove everything but the vid card and see how high you can get it to be stable. When you max out, install each component one by one to find which is stopping you.

Also I understand an 800 isn't the best of OC chips.....may just be the chip itself that's holding you back.

Yes im using the same components exept for the pentium 800, guess its the chip that is holding back then.

I'm sure that chip will do much more than that. The coppermine P-IIIs are usually good for 950 to 1000. First, you need to get better cooling. I'm guessing those temps you mention are either motherboard temps or CPU idle temps. There is no way that a P-III will have that low of load temps with no extra cooling. Did you use a good thermal paste? You probably have to get a better CPU cooler and an extra case fan or two. Once you get the cooling under hand, try bumping up the core voltage a notch or two.
