I can't wait until April 10th! Its my birthday, and i want to get a Celeron 566 and a ATI Rage Fury MAXX. This is gonna be awesome. Finally some new hardware! Since i finally got the voltage down on my Celeron II 700 (956 @ 1.95v stable in seti/games) that will go in a spare motherboard when i get one, thats if the Celeron 566 cooperates. I've heard some people can't get theres above 850?!?!? Is there any specific reason for this? Any other hardware I should pick up? Suggestions-----. Here is some of the stuff i need:
Video card----at least 32mb FAST!!! (was thinking MAXX i can get it for 50)
10k rpm Hard drives (pair for my fastrak card)
New CHIP (preferably cheap around the 130-150 range)
New CD-ROM (i still have my old Aopen 36x after my cheapo 52X crapped out on me)
Thanx Again!

I still recommend going to the PIII in place of the Celermine. I have had a few, and while they are great chips, they still lag behind the PIII. I have finally become Celermine free at home, and when I use my machine at work with a Celermine 566 @896MHz it annoys me because it is slow.

You may not notice a tremendous jump when first using the PIII but after you have had one for a while, and then go back to the Celermine, you will immediately see what I mean. Programs load faster, and run better on the PIII.

Dang it...You beat me to it. I was gonna ask him to buy me a PCI SCSI card.

The ISA one is the last "antique" in my rig.

Carmine, get a good hsf for that Celeron 566, if that is what you eventually do get. Alpha or GlobalWin. this will help it run on the ragged edge you thrive upon.

Might be getting a Duron 850 ----gaurenteed to hitt 1150 + and a good motherboard (maybe EPOX) motherboard. If i do end up getting this stuff.....Whatch out! This baby should bust out so really good memory scores not to mention benchmarks!

I noticed that you're trying to decide between a Celly 566 or a Duron. If you're still in the market for a C-566, email me. Now that I have my P-III 700, this CPU is an extra that's just going to waste laying in my desk drawer (in an antistatic bag of course). I've benchmarked it at 978 and it will post at 1020 (but usually locks during Windows startup. It will run at 1020 in safe mode. I can guarantee rock stable 3D gaming at 952 (from experience). My current board has no settings between 115 and 120 fsb, and this was before I perfected my cooling mods, so it might actually do 1 gig in normal Windows. It's fun shopping when you know there's cash in the future, huh? Good luckl!

There you go, Carmine....

That Abit mb of yours will let you hit every stop on the FSB trail between 115 and 120.....

Might be your chip. Get the Alpha, and keep the bugger cool.

If cash is tight get a cC0 celery. Mine posts at 1.8v at a gig in a Soltek slocket on a Soyo SY6VCA mobo. If you can't get a gig from one on your abit board, then either I've got a good chip, or you've got a not-so-good mobo.

Hmm, I'm not too sure about the graphics card, tho. when you can get an Elsa Gf2 MX for £90 in Dixons in the UK (never the cheapest place for computer bits- mainly do hi-fis and TVs), just think what you can probly get it for online in the US (I assume your not from anywhere else, you haven't listed where you are in your profile)
