I posted this over at the Dell forums, but figured I'd post over here as well to see if anyone has any ideas :)

I seem to be having problems with my new Inspiron 1100, but more specifically with the Samsung CDRW/DVD SN-324F combo drive that came with it. I tried using the SonicNow recording software to burn Word Documents to a Memorex rewritable. At first the laptop would completely freeze and I had to do a hard reset each time I tried. For some reason now I can burn some documents and everything is ok. The real problem comes in when I try to come back to the same disc later on to burn more documents to it. I have to reformat the disc every time I want to add new files. Does the Samsung drive support multi-session burning? I loaded Nero 5.5 hoping that it was just SonicNow being a lousy program, but Nero tells me "The option to continue an existing CD is disabled, because you have selected the Image Recorder. Select your real recorder by using the menu command 'CD Recorder'->'Chooses Recorder' to enable this feature." When I go to choose the drive as my actual recorder, the only option is "Image Recorder."

Does anyone have any info on how I can fix this or is it an actual hardware issue that I'm stuck with? Thanks very much for your help :)

So does anyone know if the drive supports multi-session recording?
