View Full Version : HP Pavillion - any options
I have an HP Pavillion 6730 with a celeron 600 and a Cognac board that doesn't allow FSB adjustment. I am new to overclocking and am wondering if I have any options without having to replace the board? Any info is appreciated.
This is a common question, and I don't think anyone has found a satisfactory solution for the HPs- especially the Cognac boards. Many HPs have small power supplies which can be detrimental to overclocking as well.

you might consider trying tooling over to h-oda.com and checking out SoftFSB- it may allow you to adjust the FSB from windows. But be careful, its easy to crash your system if you dont move slowly with it.
how about your local sanitation department.
oem systems suck, too proprietary for me.
I like to choose my own components and build custom systems
Just put together a 500 mz amd k6-2 with 64mb, 10 gig ata66, iwill side pro-controller card, s3virge pci sonic impac a3d sound, 50x cd-rom, msi 5169 atx mobo, atx case w\250 psu, 1.44 floppy, supra max 56i modem, mouse, keyboard, speakers, controller for less than $350.00 out of pocket.
All components were purchased new!!
Add second hand 17" monitor from the local pc store for about 125.00, sell to friend for $550.00.
Spend profit on upgrade to my systems.
smokin!!
