How do I find "safe" temps for CPUs?

I'm a relative newbie so bare with me - I'm trying to figure out what is a safe idle-max temp range for my PIII 800EB. I'm using my standard heatsink and fan and OCing at just under 900mhz. In Prime95 the temp stays at 54C at max - too hot? Any links online to find out temp ranges? Thanks

Yes, that's a little too warm. I've found from experience that overclocked Coppemine CPUs tend to show signs of instability beyond mid 40's load CPU temps. Using a good thermal paste on the CPU heatsink and improving case ventilation might be all that is needed. What are your idle system and CPU temps?

I don't recall the C but it's around 81F when idle -well, bground processes at work only.
