Here's the deal. 2 weeks it's birthday time and I have $100 to drop. I'm thinking cel600 to overclock. Everything I see tells me it's the most bang for the buck. I'll plug it into an Asus p2b-f board with 128 ram. Asus 370-dl slockit. I have the bios updated. I now have a cel366@550 with no!!! problem. I've checked the cpu database and this exact combo has been posted as having no problems up to 900+. Anything I should know? The only thing I'm fuzzy on is this Cel1-Cel2. I can't get it straight in concept. Seems the cutoff is 566 and up it's a 2. Is this it? I try to read between the lines of what people are saying but, it's not clear. Thanks.
There were two Celeron 533 chips, one is the older C-I and the other is the 533a which is the newer C-II or coppermine FC-PGA (commonly called the flip chip). All Celeron 566 and faster are the newer C-II CPUs. Most coppermine flip chips usually will run at least 900 MHz with better cooling and a bump in voltage.
The C-600 is a great bargain, but let me know if you're interested in a Celly 566 that I can guarantee to overclock a rock stable 952 to 978 (with the right cooling and components). Another member has first dibs right now, but if he decides not to swoop up on this deal, it might be worth your while to email me privately. I have an Abit slotket that I can throw into the deal and maybe even a choice of coolers if you want. All within your price range.
