c566, golden orb, Asus cubx board, will run at 83 fsb but not at 100. Will not boot at all under 1.65 volts, will boot and load windows at 1.65 to 1.70 volts but locks up when windows is loaded. Over 1.70 volts boots but locks up loading windows. Voltage settings in bios only go to 1.85. Do I need a higher voltage? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I also have a c566, Asus p2b board running at 850 with no problem at all, 1.50 volts no excessive heat. Why can't I get the c566 to 850 on the cubx????

Have you tried running the 566/850 on the CUBX?? You know it will run at 100 FSB. Have you tried the 566 that won't hit 850 in the P2B, to see if it will hit 100?

The chip just might not have 850 in it. Some don't. Swap them out and see what happens.

I have seen plenty of 566s that didn't want to run 100FSB+ below 1.8-1.85v. If you can try it at these voltages it will tell you wheteher it's voltage related or not. Just be sure to watch the temps. Most I have done did need the high Vcore, but the temps never got out of line with a decent hsf.

Could be some loopy ram if the chip works in one board and not the other (providing he's using different ram on the other)

Sorry, been away for a couple of weeks. Have not had a chance to swap cpu's. Will try this and post again. Thanks for your replies.
