My motherboard is strange, it goes as high as 100mhz but for some reason it has jumpers to change the multiplyer which i set to 4.0 (from 3.5) but the manual says 4.0(default) nothing happened.... How can i overclock the PII 350 MMX using my motherboard?

Im not sure you can. The multiplier is locked in the chip, so you wont be able to change that. The only way would be to up the fsb some way if you can.

I had one of those, few months back. I had an Asus P2B (rev 1.0) mobo, which supports 133MHz FSB.
I couldn't get it to POST it at 3x133 with OEM HSF, but when I changed the HSF, blammo, 400MHz! Boy was I happy. Wouldn't post at 466MHz :'(.
So, the only thing I can recommend is getting a better HSF, if you can change the FSB... I read somewhere about voltage mods for Pentium II, they should get you to 466MHz.

If you could post the brand name of your mobo, and the model/revision, we might be able to help...can you go to 75mhz?...this would give you 375mhz (i know it's not much) with a good cooling setup, you might get 400-450...but we need more info to help

I tried to o/c my P2 350 by increasing the multiplyer like you it stayed at 350
I am led to believe that the multiplyer is locked on this chip and am now considering buying a 450 (£50 new)

Find out which mobo you have.
Search for a bios update then for that board.
That might let youcrank up the FSB from 100.
Dont buy a 450..
Buy a Slotket and a Celly 600. That wil run at 900 no probs.

stick with you 350 and upgrade it later. i would suggest a new motherboard to be the first upgrade if your current mobo has no fsb settings. putting my pentium 2 350 on an Abit be6 II motherboard allowed me to get 540+ mhz.

FSB 152 on PII 350 wooooooooh.
How do you cool it . My PII 400 wont post on 150. And I can't try someting between 140 and 150. What's your Voltage and temp??

Motherboard is pcchips m730
i got this using amimbid (motherboard id)
61-0521-001437-00101111-071595-VT691

1-processor and bios rom information
2-version information
3-manufacturer id
4and5- unkown
6- chipset/bios info

Motherboard goes up to 100mhz which it is currently at (jumpers) no option to go higher. Can also go to 66mhz (but why bother!)

btw there are two versions of bios for me to upgrade but which one to I use?

i have a pretty good size aavid heatsink and my core voltage is at 2.2. one little trick i learned with my setup is to lower the i/o voltage, mine is at 3.2. with higher i/o voltages i got registry errors and bsod. i dont worry about as much heat either. i use my pci video card because my agp cant handle it. ill be getting a peltier and maybe some water cooling soon

You are an inspiration, zeisel. I may give my PII 350 another look. Gotta ditch my OEM P2B98-xv (HP 6370z).
Great OC! :-)

you can try updating to the current bios but i doubt that this will help you. if i where you i would start upgrading. first i would get a new motherboard. i recommend the Abit Be6 II v.2. in my mind this is an incredible board. it gives you almost unlimited fsb settings and you dont even have to open the case, it is all set through the softmenu bios. it gives you voltage settings and ram latences. i just bought mine a few weeks ago from bzboyz.com. i think i paid like $115. if you ever want to get a better processor it is fully upgradable and can handle over 1 ghz. i think many will agree with me when i say it is the overclockers dream board for slot 1. you still may be able to overclock with what you have so i would do some research first

You have the same setup as me except the mainboard, do you have a link to their site? abit.com gives me motherboard.com

What are your scores in 3dmark2000?
Play half-life? Whats your fps?

Btw if I were to get a heatsink/fan combo would the golden orb for slot 1's be alright?

Here ya go Axe.. http://www.abit.com.tw/
If youv'e already got the Orb, give it a shot. They don't seem to be very popular from most of the posts I've read. See Joes reviews available from links on the main page.

Sorry for shooting my mouth off about the Gorb. Your HSF options are limited in order to try and avoid blocking DIMM slots with a tall cooler. I didn't see in this thread what cooling zeisel is using. Anyway, I think the Swiftwch MC370 with a pabst fan would be my choice. It performed very well in one of Joe's reviews and took first prize in a shootout a couple of months ago at Tom's Hardware. Swiftech says it will work on a slotket. Not sure if it would block a DIMM slot though. I was considering it for a T-Bird system I was dreaming of.
See this link for some great HSF choices http://www.crazypc.com/products/cooling/cpu/cpu.htm
