Hey, I want to give the side (window visible) of a Fortron 350 a chromy look?
What do you guys recommend doing, chrome paint or some hardcore sanding?
Thanks,
-Jeff

If you are going for a reflective look, dodge chrome paint. The only way to get a truly reflective 'chrome' look is with real chrome. If you want a metallic reflection, sand it down as suggested. It won't be as bright as chrome, but you'll get great reflections out of it. Steel can polish to be almost as 'shiny' as a standard chrome plating.

Darnnnn.
I've got a sputter coater at work, but I don't think the side of the PS will fit in it....and I only think we have gold to coat with....
Polishing it is!

To avoid chrome paint, because it gives you a cheesy looking silver finish that isnt reflective at all. Polishing or chroming are the only ways for a mirror finish.

The best thing to use for the chrome look is EAGLE ONE Never-dull. It's a cototn roll that comes in a can with a chemical on it that when you rub it down with some elbow grease, can give a polished look to almost anything. It can even be used to help shine up chrome. I have even used a piece of exhaust pipe from any auto store as a test. You know, the Dull multi toned grey piping, well with a good hour and some pieces of Never-Dull, it will look like it was polished/chromed. You just rip off a little piece, and polish with some force, it will turn dark and get you dirty. Then you wipe it clean with a cotton rag or something. Good luck, you can get it at walmart or something similar.
