View Full Version : PIII 800 EB more than 900?
hi guys, why would like to know if the PIII 800 EB, can do more then 900. i already have it at 900, at 1.7v, and it is stable like a rock, even after a all day of burn in of the sisoft sandra 2001 pro, the max temp that my cpu reached was 43ºc, wtih a golden orb tweaked.
i really want more than 900

That's close to maxing out @ 900 but you can go more.. if you have a board like.. Abit SH6, I think you can shove it more.. will allow more room for FSB i think.. you must have a good ass chip!! is it cC0 type?? if you have good RAM it will help you go higher too.

Got my 800eb at 166 mhz. giving me a gig.
Solid as. Admitidly the temps are a bit high 58 at prolonged full tilt with a big cooler + case fan.
But she is still solid.
So i dont mind the extra bit heat too much. Intel say 70/80 running temps. I think Intel would cover there asses by understating the temp. So in reallity can these new chips be run at higher temps than the old stuf?.
Has anyone burnt one out ?...would be interesting to find out how high you can run these for long periods. Say runnin at 80 deg till she gives up. Interesting to find out how long she'd last.

You can get a gig. At 1.9 voltage and my buss ratio set at 133:100:33 I can get 1020 mhz and rock solid. This is without any really great cooling. I got some comming and with some tweaking an burn in time hope to reach 1.1 gig. It took a week running it at somewhere around 950 for it to run a gig stable so it appears burn in time is key.

Oh yeah fingers, I noticed that this chip ran hot at first at a new buss setting then would gradually cool over time. Mine used to run at like 40C without load when I first ran it at a gig. Same case temps and 2 weeks later its 36C all the time with no load.

Aey Fingers and Door Knob,
That is impressive.. How do you guys get 1 Gig or higher? What Mobo do you guys have?? and what AGP divider ratio setting? Do you guys play any games?.. if so, how do they run? I just want to know...for my own good. Oh, and what video card?? thanks.. :)

Alright here is the list. I found giving plenty of burn in time key to getting to 1 gig. Good cooling always helps too. I have a crapy chrome orb now.
My AGP and PCI ratio is unchaned, don't even know if you can in my bios.
The fsb ratio is set to 133:100:33 cpu:ram:pci (I like having the lower speed on the ram and able to run CAS2 instead of CAS3, also more dependable).
Voltage at 1.9
My system is as fallows
ASUS CUSL2 mobo
The cpu you know but here goes, 800EB
The video card is a Creative Anhilator 2 GTS (32mb ddr)
And pretty much everything else is high quality (doesn't reallly matter anyways).

Oh yeah, I play games too...
The only one I have that really pushed the system at all not oc'ed was Unreal Tournament and that was on full load. When i had it not oc'ed it would get the smallest bit jumpy in some spots with the highest quality. O'ced to 900 took care of that problem and 1020 (when I got it stable) ran it just as smooth and maybe a little better. It seems when I had my ram @ 150 cas2 i got my best 3dmark scores, but i really think that it depends from game to game. Quake 3 depends a lot on ram and the vid card whereas UT is very processor driven. Either way having your set up it'll be pretty sweet and with great ram you can have the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the reply, Door Knob
Yeh, that's good.. yes, I thought that CUSL-2 is a good overclocking board.. I knew it and you must have a real good OC'ing CPU chip as well.. Your vid card is exactly the same as mine. Thanks again! :)

If it is a cCO(sandra will tell u) then your chances are pretty good, provided you have good enough ram,vid card and other peripherals that will handle the bus speed...and cBO's tend to top out at 950 or so...if you look in the cpu data base(you'll find a link on overclockers.com's main page top right), you can look at all the instances where your chip has been clocked, and how much, and how stable, and what it took to get there..good luck
