View Full Version : I got a CS degree now what?
Well I got my Computer Science degree and don't expect to find any related work for a long time, unless I move to India.
What are some positions I should consider, not high-tech? The only experience I have is as a cashier and technical support (call center).
I doubt they would let you work in India. I think if your not born in India your chance of working their is slim.

With a CS degree I would go work at a Factory, While there look for ways Computers could be used to improve the production, then MAKE your self a Job using your skills by presenting your ideas to Management, be sure to show costs of implementing, and if possibly Show how production would increase, be it less waste, less man hours needed, faster QC.
dont ever work in a factory. take a job as a cashier at mcdonalds first.

if you are a computer genius then develop something we all want.
look at our general needs and make us want what you have.
then sell it to us.
in general what do we want?:D

ok how about a woman that wants to buy you computer parts.
:D that would be my g/f so i guess i wont be needing that one though.
she is actully gonna buy me a Z06;)
Selling stuff, thats not going to happen. The only thing I can sell is "do you want fries with that" :D
I just can't sell stuff.
Something technical would be nice.

please. why do you say this? I left as a Manager at Mc Donalds to go to a Factory since it payed much better, AND in the Factory setting you can see places that can be improved by computers,
McDonalds is locked into a Software/Hardware Contract so having the chance to inovate is hardly there,
a Freind of mine in first year of University got a summer job as a file clerk at a Factory, now he runs the IT department because he saw his filing job was obsolete if they implemented a system he designed.
right now a smart and resourcful person who has experince in computers should be looking to tap the middle class, rather then compete with all of the Booksmart students who graduated at the top of there class.
Trust me, there are 100's of Factories that need many things done with them, but they don't realize it since they are doing well, until someone from in says, hey we can do this a cheaper faster way, with out having to hire anyone new, I have the skills and the desire.

we want colder comps, and we want them colder for less money.
you are a scientist. what is cold, what makes it cold, how do we make that cold in our comps?

The lack of activity between atoms, more activity, more heat. Slow down the atoms :D
