Like reported by a lot of benchmark, MIcroStar 6337 815E Pro is a good Mobo with great performance, especially for O/C, but have GREAT! stability problem if you want use 512Mb of memory.
The Msi specs, that you found on the manual, say that the maximum memory installable are 512Mb, like all Mobo with chipset Intel 815 Pro, but isn't true, coz if you install 2 module double side of 256Mb the system not work properly!
Probably works only with 4 x 128Mb single side module (I've not tested) or with a 512Mb module (still not tested), but absolutly not with 2 x 256Mb DS (personally tested).
Beware of this Mobo if you need to work with 512Mb, look at other brand!
I'm sorry if just posted into Intel Mobo Forum but i think that this is a GREAT! probs not reported, ans still not fixed if possible.

well, acutally.. . if your Msi 6337 mobo takes upto totall of 512mb of RAM as you said, then it should not suppose to take any stick of 256Megers... You have 4 memory slots.. right? yeah.. each of those banks will take upto 128mb. Please no complains..it's an awesome board!! have git time with your mobo!! :)

The specs say that Mobo supports 32Mb to 512Mb Mem Module, Double or Single Side.
I've tested my memory modules (pc 133 certified) and are absolutly right, and the same probs happened to others, with various Mem Modules, also with Kingmax 256Mb PC150.
I've tried installing module on Dimm bank 1&3 (was 1&2) but with the same probs!
The strange think is that probs happen also if I install a 256Mb DS and a 64Mb SS or DS on the first two Dimm bank.
To be sure of the result, I've tested all on two different MSI 6337 815E Pro.

now, somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but if the mobo takes upto 512mb, it should take up all of its memory slots to get full 512mb. For example,.. if it has 4 memory slots, it's specified to take 4 of 128 megers.. and not 2 of 256s.. I'm afraid that mobo is limited to 128s... but if somebody else has objection to that, please spew out!
Quote, "The specs say that Mobo supports 32Mb to 512Mb Mem Module, Double or Single Side."
-- I think that means your mobo can take 32mb to 512mb as overall number of Megabytes, not 32 to 512mb in each of your memory slot. you see what i'm getting at?.. just like mine that takes totall of 768mb but I can put upto 256mb in each slot and there are 3 slots. So the conclusion is that on your type of mobo, no matter what kind of RAM, it shouldn't take 256 megers in any of those slots. Sorry to hear that you can't put that 256mb memory chip. Sounds like you won't be able to use that one.. bummer.. :(

The specs say that the Mobo supports a maximum memory size of 512Mb, and that it support 32 to 512Mb Dimm Memory module!!!
The specs also say, that I can install different configuration module, the only limatation is about 2 DS (double side) module both!!!
My ten year of experience in Pc assembly (Asus, Soyo, Shuttle & MSI) say that never I founded specified to install 4 module to reach the max mem supported, it's not necessary, the only limatation it's about the size memory module and/or the stick DS or SS!
Thank's for your support.

256meg sticks use two banks, so you need to use dimm 1 and dimm3.....leave dimm2 unpopulated, and it should boot fine.

Thanks in advance for you support :-)
I've tried with 2 x 256 DS and 1 x 256 DS + 1 x 64 DS & also SS, but it's the same :-( doesn't work.

Probably I've found why isn't possible install 2 x 256Mb module, or better they say that also one only module of 256 (x4) give probs!
on Abit WebSite I've found an interesting declaration:
The Intel 815 chipset (and also 815E) does not support 4x4, 8x4, 16x4 or any other x4 memory chips. A wide variety of errors is possible if you try to use double-sided 32MB chip modules or single-sided 16MB chip modules with this chipset, including system crashes or failures to POST.
Can someone help me to identify my Mem Module?
I've tried with Mbm 5.05 that report about MM:

Damn, I fell into this same thing - thought I was being clever installing 2x256M in slots 1 & 2.
Oh well, my old BX board will take them just fine. :(
