Can someone with the full version of CoD and Cat 4.1 try to play the Burnsville single player mission (the second level after training I think). Let me know if you can complete the level.

I experienced constant lockups in the scene after killing the half-track gunner. It works fine with Cat 3.10.

I did a fresh install of XP and installed 4.1 to completely eliminate any previous drives, but it didn't help. Also tried Omega drivers, no go.

Fast Writes are OFF. VPU recover is disabled as well.

Only other driver to speak of is the Nforce2 driver; v3.13.

Curious if anyone else is experiencing the same thing...

EDIT: I have a radeon 9700...

I also get probs with BF1942 but as long as I dont try to go back to main menu it's ok.

Hmmm.. I played CoD half-way through with the 3.10s, then switched to the 4.1s, and finished the game with no problems.

I am playing CoD multiplayer with 4.1s, no issues...

Will check single player though

Can you try to start a new game and see if it works? Thanks

Multiplayer worked fine for me with 4.1 as well. I don't understand how multiplayer could work perfectly, and single player can not. It is the same engine, is it not?

9800xt here. I went back and played the level and no problems. First time round was on a Ti4400. I just put this card in a week or so back. No problems with this card though.

I see a trend forming (here and here (http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33738390))...everyone who is having a problem has a 9700. I have a feeling there is an issue with the R300 core and Cat4.1 (my guess is 9500 cards would be affected too, but no one has posted, so it is hard to tell).

Obviously, I am basing this on a very limited number of reports...but that is the first common factor I noticed.

I have no problems with the 4.1 drivers on my 9500 Pro, but I dont know about CoD...I'm not into WW2 games really, heh

This thread is about Call of Duty + cat4.1; not anything else. Please don't pollute it with off-topic posts.

BUT - if you have CoD and single player works (or doesn't) with Cat4.1; PLEASE DO POST! I want to see which cards work, and which do not.

I had 3.9s installed so I could unlock my card for overclocking with the Rage3D tweak. The 3.9s crashed in the car ride after Dawnsville every time. The 3.10s didn't. Then the 3.10s crashed Wolf all the time. I am using the latest Omegas now though. They work great. I'm not willing to use 4.1 because of the performance drop in Wolf ET. You might want to try the Omegas. I know this doesn't have to do with the 4.1s, but I thought this would help if somebody had crashing problems in COD or Wolf ET with earlier drivers. If you are really desparate I can try out the 4.1s and see if it kills COD. They are leaving my system right after that though.

I'm more curious than desperate. If you don't mind doing it, it would be helpful. The ATI and Omega 4.1 driver both caused the problem for me. It'd be good to see if a 9500 has the same problem as the 9700s...

4 of my buddys, 2 with 9700 pros and 2 with 9500pro's All had to switch back to 3.7 drivers. ANYTHING above the 3.7 and there cards have issues.

I feel that the newer releases of the cats are more geared towards the 9600, and 9800 cards. Why ATI doesnt do more testing i have no idea. But this seems to be a big trend.

BTW they were haveing the same problem with CoD. They would get illegal action errors all the time with 3.8, 3.9, 3.10, and 4.1 drivers. They aint happy campers.

Here's a little tidbit that might solve some of you guys' crashing probs with COD. This came from the latest Omega info. Give it a shot even if you don't use the Omegas.

"2. If you play Call of Duty (Full version, not demo) and experience lockups in certain game areas, DISABLE Fastwrites."

fastwrites are dissabled on two of there cards. a 9700pro and 9500pro. But hey it might help. I personally never use fastwrites anyway because most cards dont really support it. Except the 9600 series cards.

Hope you figure it out, if not go back to 3.7 and no worries.

Are all 4 of those systems Nforce2 motherboards? Is anyone running a VIA board having a problem?

Does it happen in any other game? Is you system otherwise stable?

Is fast writes enabled? If it is, disable it and see if it works...leave it disabled on the 9800. (the 9600 needs fastwrites enabled - btw)

I'd suggest trying Cat 4.1; From what I've read 4.1 works perfectly with a 9800.
