i just got myself a Pentium III 800 which is running at 133 MHz. Problem is my rams are only PC 100. Question, will my rams die after awhile? will my chip still run at 133 MHz or 100 Mhz?? or will my processor spoil after while of using the PC 100 rams. need answer. thanx in advance

Hmm, I wouldn't worry, if it seems stable enough...ram seems to last long, I never had a ram module fail....I've had them not live up to expectations, but I never had one just die on me, BTW, nice overclock you've going..1064 is nothing to sneese at from an 800 :-)

Check bios. It should regester it as pc100 ram. Your fsb is split into three ratios. CPU:RAM:PCI your settins should be 133:100:33. If it is slowing the processor it will say the adjusted speed on start up. The only way that would happen is if your ratio went to 100:100:33 and I have never heard of that happening. You should be all set.

wow, Pentium III 800 to 1064......u sure this CPU can reach so high? i have not yet tried clocking it yet cause anyway it's my friends. so what is the FSB going to be like. furthermore i'm only using a BH6. not sure if this board can stay stable at that speed. if i use the kingmax PC 150, will it be better for the overclocking? what is the best cooler for clocking the 800 to 1064 and above?

Yes that chip can go that high with REAL GOOD cooling. Also are we talking 800E or 800EB. I have seen EB's up to 1.1 but that was with peltiers and water cooling. If its an E it should be able to go higher than that (higher multiplier) but probably not a real lot.

Who is running at 800 @ 1064 anyways? I didn't see it in this thread anywhere.

this is going to sound stupid but how do u count the FSB with the speed of the processor? like P III 800 should run up to 1064, how do u get that figure? the difference between P III 800 E and EB ?

For a start E chips run on a 100mhz fsb and EB run on a 133mhz fsb. As for the relation of fsb with the chip the chip gets it's speed by multiplying the fsb by it's set multiplyer, so for an 800E it runs at 8x100mhz and to get 1064mhz you would need to run at a 133mhz fsb which would really give 1066mhz unless you set the spread spectrum option low, also intel chips are multiplyer locked so the only way to overclock is by increasing the fsb

I am running my 800E @ 1064, 256 PC133 and have just (yesterday)changed my cooler from a 'Globalwin FOP38' to a 'ThermoEngine V60-4210' what a difference! under a full load my cpu is now a full 11 degrees cooler! I was amazed. Overclockers.co.uk claimed only 5 degrees lower, but who's complaining. I recommend this HSF to anyone with a socket A or FC-PGA processor.
I will probably try to o/c a bit higher now i have the temps down even more
