Hi
I am interested in overclocking my p3 733EB (SL455), but no can do.
Ive got an ABIT be6 II motherboard. I turn to you experts for some answers, if u could help.
And which speed may i overclock, without having to buy tons of extra equipment?

TIA

Unfortunately, your board has a BX chipset, and only has official support for 100mhz fsb, and with a 733, your board is already overclocked(133mhz), while your chip is running stock, so you will have to have some pc150, or really good pc133 mem, and all your cards...you can take out all your non essential cards, to see if it will overclock further, and put them back one by one and see which one fails, and have an idea of what you need to be successfull.
after 133mhz, agp cards start giving fits unless they are reletively new, so if you have a pci video card, that might also help..but only if it's needed.
BTW, Welcome to the forum, and good luck

Hi thx for the reply and the welcoming.
Hmm no wonder i got it cheap :)
But i noticed in the bios that everything in the softmenu i locked, i was wondering if there was anything i could do there. And I ve seen setups with the exact same cpu and motherboard oc'ed to 900+, thats why i got interested in this matter.
So it all depends now on what the rest of my cards can handle?
I also have 2 other puters p3 650, theyre on MS-6163 Pro Motherboards, anything i can overclock here?

TIA

in the bios setup, on cpu selection, you need to change it to user defined,
and turn off error hold I believe, then you start bumping up the mhz.

About the rest of PCI hardware cards.. no not necessarily. they usually handle well with high FSB(front side bus) as long as you set the AGP/ PCI divider ratio for the 133mhz bus. Then leave that setting alone and start bumping up more FSB little by little.. CPU is important.. some of them dont overclock well, some do very well. But dont worry, you will not hurt your PC100 RAM, they'll be just fine. What video card do u have? How much of Ram do you have?.. Some PC100 little 64Megers tend to overclock better than the 128Megers.. I have seen some 64mb PC100 running 160+mhz @cas3. now that is a freak. I had my previous one stick of PC100 64mb running at 145- 146 mhz.

BTW, oh and try do as what Mr. Potatohead said about unlocking the FSBmhz setting option. I'm sure that will do it.. good luck! :)

Ive got a TNT2Ultra in the 733 one, and Geforce 2gts in the 650.

Ive got one 256 and 128 PC133 in the 733 and the same in the other cept its PC100.

Thank u and als to u Mr Potatoehead for yer answers, as u may have understood, I am not an overclocking freak, I am just curious on the subject, and maybe check out what these cpus can do.

BE6 II. You lucky buzzard! That's one of the best BX (and as such is one of the very best) boards ever made for Overclocking.

There's no way to adjust the AGP divider, apart from 2/3 or 1/1. Apart from that what else could you want?

The boards got 1MHz jumps, adjustable Vcore and Vio in the BIOS.

You probly will be able to adjust the FSB on the MSI mobo... If I were you, I'd swap the 650 to the BE6-II and OC that to ... who knows??? The 650 will OC sweeter as it officially runs at 100Mhz FSB, meaning you've got a more headroom before the chip and board top out

... Just IMO

oops, sorry about that.. I meant to say be sure to set the correct AGP divider for 100mhz, not 133.. I got myself confused, doh!! I own BE6-2, lol.
Yes, Mr. markedmundb is right. It is nice to hear from some one how good this board is.. This board would've been really superb board if it had the option to set the AGP to 1/2, lol.. wouldn't that be nice?
