Trouble getting beyond the 83 mhz fsb on asus p3b-f.
Using golden orb and generic adapter for slot 1. Upped voltage to 2.0v, did get to post at 1000mhz once but failed in windows.Temp at around 34 degrees C. I am new at this so any help would be appreciated.

The P3B-F is ok, but working with both an orb, and a generic slotket may make things a little tough. Generic slotkets are notorious for limiting stability at higher FSBs, and even below 100. The orb is not really up to the task of any serious overclocking, on any but the most docile chips.

With a high multiplier chip like your 667 you need everything in your favor, so I would at least start by acquiring a name brand slotket like an Abit or Iwill. Then you may be able to get it a little higher, and determine if you are going to have thermal problems.

If 2.0v Vcore didn't do it with what you have, there really isn't much else to try, except perhaps jettisoning peripherals. Have you tried your machine with just a drive and video card to make sure you don't have a peripheral that is objecting to the high bus speeds?
