I got an ok deal on 2 cpus but could only choose one
Pentium 3 750 for $120 or Pentium 3 700 for $130 I have a abit vp6 motherboard. I know the 750 is cheaper but would it affect me in O/C both are 100fsb

I'd get the 700......everyone round here seems to have the best results with them.

I also recomend the 700 as you are more likely to get to 933 than 1ghz, though there is a good chance that if you can make it to around a 150mhz fsb you should be able to get around 1ghz out of the 700, whixh would give you better performance than from the 750 becasue of the higher memory and chipset speed

Are we talking E or EB?

assuming you are going to overclock, go with the 700 over the 750. Else, save the money and get the 750. Thats my advice.

Door Knob,
Miknow said that the both chips are at 100mhz rated bus.. so yes E

I don't know about the p3-750, but I've recently gotten a p3-700 (OEM) and I'm running rock solid at 933 with no voltage adjustment. (I do have an Alpha parked on top of it though...)

From what I've read here and in the database, the p3-700 seems pretty forgiving and at an FSB of 133 MHz, you can have your PCI and (maybe depending on the board) your AGP still running in spec.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the 750E's got picked thru by intel, with all of the real good ones becoming P/// 1 GHz chips...anyone else hear/read this, or did I dream it?

I'd go for the 700E myself.

I think it's more likely that they just made all the bad 1ghz's 750's :)
