I have an Intel Celeron 600 (retail version) cB0 stepping, running on a Asus P2B Board with an Asus Sloket, dual golden orb connected to it.

The cpu runs unstable only in 3d applications, in windows it runs perfectly well.
When i run a 3d aplication for a long time, suddently gets me back to Windows ME desktop or freezes the screen.

The cpu is running at 2.00v (default is 1.5v), and at 112Fsb (9*112Mhz=1007Ghz), i have an Hercules 3D ProphetMX (Retail version) at its default speed.

Thanks for your time,

YIKES !!

1.5 to 2.0 is a HUGE push on the vcore setting !!! That's a 33% increase over default. It's recommended to run not much more than 15% over.

The fact that it boots at all at 1007 indicates that you are doing well, to me. These usually top out around 950-1GHz, so you are on the high side, if we can get it stable, AND get the vcore down. How are your temps??

The big concern here is electromigration of the chips circuits at this high a vcore setting. The first thing I would do is to pitch the Gorb in the weeds, and get an Alpha PEP66T. I replaced my Gorb on the Celeron in my "sig", and it lowered my temps considerably, and allowed me to get 4 MHz more of FSB to play with. Where you've likely hit max for this chip, we're most concerned here with getting stable, and lowering the vcore.

Did you use Arctic Silver when setting this up?? Every little bit helps, at this speed. Did you lap the Gorb and cpu?!?! I did w/ my C II and Gorb, and it helped quite a bit. theres a lot of info on lapping hsf's and cpus in the "Tips" on the front page, if you haven't.....

What is the fastest you've gotten 100% stable? 945? 972?? You might want to back down to one of these at a lower vcore (1.85v) and let it burn in for a bit, and then try to raise the FSB after a few days of burning.

I didn't realise you are using a gorb...throw it away, or use it for your video card...there is just not enough metal to absorb all that heat...b4 using the "burnin" method mentioned below, get an alpha, or global win h.s. and use some arctic silver.
Well, it's a rare cBO that will do over 950 or so.
What mobo do you have, and what about your pci settings, and agp? if you have your pci set to 1/4, try 1/3 and see if it stabilises, you could try raising your io volts. Have you tried burning in? Some have had good results by setting their cpu to it's default frequency, and raising the vcore to 2v or 1.9 and running it there for about a month, and overclocking at default voltage, till more is needed...some have gone from 1.9v at a gig or so, to default volts at the same speed...your results may vary.
One last thing...check (if you can) if your power supply is up to the task..too many overlook the power supply in their search for stability....if you have more than one cd/cdrw/dvd/hdd...then in my opinion...300w is not enough. if you have hardware doctor or similar prog' try accessing a cd while watching your fan roataion speeds, or vcore volts, and if they drop any, suspect the supply.
Hope this helps

atleast your cBo Celeron 600 manage to get into windows at 1007 Mhz. i just got myself another HSF but i have no idea what model izzit but it is rather big and it looks pretty much like FOP - 38. the fan spinds at about 6000 rpm so i guess that is fast enough. problem is when i clock the CPU at FSB 112 and the voltage i increase it to 2 volts, and error message shows while loading into windows afterwhich it locks up. the error message is " Your program caused a divide overflow error" Has anyone got this message while loading Windows and locks up there b4? if i put the voltage to 1.95 v, it loads windows halfway and stops but there is no error message. I drop the voltage to 1.9 v and it loads untill the part where u get to see informations about your PC afterwhich it stops loading. i'm using a BH 6 so i cannot have the FSB any lower then 112. Is there a way which i can load softmenu III to this BH 6? please help. i'm getting very tired of this CPU and board.

yeah, get that vcore down if it all possible. You are ruining the life of your cpu by doing that and only have a GORB to cool it. Like everyone else said, just about anything is better. Globalwin FOP38 or the Alpha PEP66 seem to be the favs. Arctic Silver could also help. Are you using a shim? If so that seems to actually hurt cooling somewhat, although it could saver your core. My thought is that you are either going to need to lower your cpu as you at the maximum it could reach or go with a peltier/watercooling setup. Your issue is really more of a cooling thing than your cpu having probs. Go over to the cooling section and read the posts there, especially if you want to do water cooling. I have personally learned a great deal from that area of the forum.
