I'm currently looking at purchasing one of the following:
P3-700: BX80526F700256ESL3XX
P3-750: BX80526F750256ESL462
P3-800: BX80526F800256ESL4CE
I'm leaning towards the 800 as its the only cCO stepping chip, but of course costs more. Which do you guys think is the better choice?
___________
Abit BE6-2v1
P3-550e@650
256meg Crucial PC133 C2
CL Annihilator Pro 32meg DDR
CL 48x CD
SB Live! Value
HP 9100i CD-RW
WD 30gig ATA66
Efficient Networks 3060 aDSL modem
All in a salvaged Gateway full tower with a couple a fans
if your not planning on overclocking then get which ever you can afford, if you want to overclock then have a look somewhere else for a cCO 700 as 700mhz is the best speed for overclocking with p3's

hey, yeah I agree with the other dude, but, I have one question, is your 550e max out at 650?! Most get 733-825 or so. I'd try to max it out, unless it is.

I'm currently looking at purchasing one of the following:
P3-700: BX80526F700256ESL3XX- No, get a cC0 as what Phil has said
P3-750: BX80526F750256ESL462- No
P3-800: BX80526F800256ESL4CE- Maybe. if this ever was a cD0, maybe this is way to go.. but still, 700cD0 will be better

Well, I actually found an SL4C3 stepping rev. from a place called MicroSource, Inc. Got it for $129 + shipping. (Check Pricewatch.) I should get it sometime this afternoon, West Coast time. Just curious, can anyone tell me how an OEM should arrive? Is it just the chip without the plastic cover (s)? Or is it just missing the fan h/s combo? Silly me, forgot to ask, got too excited that one, they'd even look for it and two, that they actually had one! If it shows up as it's supposed to, (ie. an actual SL4C3) then I'll post all the details.
Happy Easter...........

Surfinguru,
That's what I have.. SL4C3. and if that is what you'll get, then yours is probably made in Costa Rica. Did you order the Slot 1 Chip or FCPGA?? I donno if the SL4C3 is available in flip chip version.. let me know

Ordered the slot 1. Looking at the link below, I don't believe the SL4C3 is available in the FC-PGA format.

Based on Intel's spec sheet, if I'm reading this right, the SL4C3 is only available as an OEM product? Also, how should I expect it to look when it arrives?

Yah it's only available in OEM and it will be arrived as the CPU cartridge only, not HSF combo. This is good... now, you gotta get some good after-market HSF such as from Alpha or Global Win. I say you go for Alpha as they are the best. You don't wanna have the HSF(retail) that comes with the CPU, they are no good. and some Artic Silver II thermal compound.. this will give you some good wackkkkkyyy OC'ing.. I wouldn't be surprised if you get over 1050mhz straight out of the box. Did you say you have Abit BE6-2 mobo?

Cool, I was hopin thats how it would come. A case screw in the back of the plastic cover does the trick great for removing the front CPU cover. Here's the h/s fan combo I'm using;

I semi-lapped it, although I think I'll do a more thurough job now that I've got the heavy artillery comin ;-) I've got some AC-2 on the way as well. What else.......oh yeah, here's my rig:
P3-550e slt1 @ 733
Abit BE6-2 rev1.1 with XU bios
256meg Crucial PC133 C2
CL Annihilator Pro
CL 48x CD
SB Live Value
HP 91001 CD-RW
WD 30G ATA66
Efficient Networks 3060 aDSL modem
all in an open Gateway 2000 full tower case with some fans here and there

Oh yeah! The 700 was delivered as promised :-) I couldn't wait for the AS-II to show up, so I slapped it in there last night. Booted up at rated speed to ensure it worked. A-Ok. Time to see what's under the hood. Bumped fsb to 133 and re-boot. Cha-ching! 933. Thanks to Mike over at MicroSource, Inc. for taking the time to hook me up with the cC0 I wanted. I think I'll let it ride for a little while before I go for more. Hopefully, it'll do a gig. Lot of cB0 700's in the database that are running around 1050 or so. I might need a better hsf combo to get there though.
Cheers!
