I recently picked up an Intel PIII 733. The SL# is SL4CG,
I went to look it up on Intels page and one of the notes on it is

Vcc Core Voltage - 1.70 V/Requires a motherboard with a split plane for the Vcc

Can anyone tell me what motherboards support this? I can't seem to find this info. I'm looking at buying the Asus CUSL2 but want to make sure this processor will work with it.
The webpage for Intel is here (http://support.intel.com/support/processors/sspec/p3p.htm)

Any help would be appreciated!

That CPU is actually a P3-550E that will run at 133 front side bus rather than 100 fsb, so Intel sold it as a 733 instead. It is the new cCO stepping, hence the Vc 1.7 requirement. It will be fine on any board you purchase today, you should be able to overclock it into the 900's range with good cooling, quality ram and peripherals.

I see you have just registered and this is your first post. May I take this oppurtunity to welcome you to our humble forum, I hope you will find it informative, you will have a vast resource of knowledge at you disposal. I suggest that you read the beginers guide on the home page, it will help answer a lot of questions you may have.

My apologies for posting to an overclocking forum about a compatability issue but I knew that if anyone knew the answer to this question it would be the overclocking gurus.

I thank you for the advice and for your time.

Wumpy,

The only dumb question here is the one that isn't asked. Do not be put off by the previous post. Better you ask here than try to get motherboard advice from Intel. At least here, we'll try to help you maximize your system performance.

Welcome to the forum. We hope you find this a comfortable place to spend time and learn about computers and overclocking.
