View Full Version : cC0
Could someone explain this "cC0 stepping" and "cB0 stepping" that everyone seems to talk about. What is it?

CPU revision: cD0 > cC0 > cB0 > cA0
The higher the its stepping code, the newer & more OC'able usually.
every so often intel makes a revision to the cores on it's chips, they are basically versions, the higher the letter in the alphabet the better, the cCO is considered to be better at overclocking than the cBO and there is a new cDO out soon but I think this is just intel trying to squeeze the very last out of it's chips
cool...
so how do i know what chip ive got?

Download Sisoft Sandra off the internet, it will tell you what your stepping is.

Or... you can give us your CPU code by taking a look at your top part of the plastic cover of your CPU cartridge.
It will say something like.. "700/256/100/1.70V S1 etc... and then in the third line, you'll see something like SL4C3.. The last 5 characters are what you looking for. Give us that and we'll tell you.
or if you use wcpuid then a cCO is chip id 6 8 6 and a cBO is 6 8 3, also cBO chips run at either 1.5v or 1.65v and cCO chips run at 1.7v
