Hello all. id like to overclock my pII 450. but i dont know anything about it. it's a compaq pressario 5670 if that could help. i also got a jumper on my mobo where it says 300, 350,400,450,500. is it possible to overclock this? do i have to get in to bios and what do i have to change in there. I know i have to cool my cpu some, hopefully someone can help me out. if you need more values i can tell u. i just dont know what you need to know. Have a nice day and thanx in advance.

there is a overclockers beguinning guide in the tips and tricks section. also compaq needs to go to hell and good luck getting into the bios.

F10 will get you to bios, but you may not have much luck overclocking a "name brand" computer. They custom build the boards and bios to keep tampering people like me out of the system. That way they don't have to fix it under warranty when I burn it up. =)

ok so i just forget overclocking my sweet compaq.
and Bob64 i didnt ask for your opinion about compaq. if u think it sux, then dont bye one.

Although everything including the kitchen sink! is locked out on these motherboards there is websites that claim they have bios flashers (updating the bios to different 'software') that can unlock these restrictions. I haven't got the URL but someone round here must know.
You could also try in the bios to change the frequency setting.- probably starts out something like this ( 100/33 mhz ) try changing it, slowly, little steps etc. 100-->105-->112 ( your m/b may not have these settings)
