I just checked my Yahoo E-mail and had a message from "Citi Bank" in my mailbox. This is a really really bad, can you say moronic, attempt to get user info about a Citi Bank account. The first thing that tipped me off was in the subject line which read, Citi-bank E_MAIL Veerification. Before I clicked on the mail I changed my prefrences to block html graphics being downloaded so I would just read the typed message. After that I clicked on the mail and found this:

Dear Citi User,

Thiss _email_ was _sent by_the_ CITI_bank sevrers to
veerify your _e-mail_ adrress_.
You muust ctmlepoe this psreocs by clicking on_the link
beloww and enntering in the smal window_ your _Citibank_
Atm_ full card-nummber and card pin that you use_ on Atm Machine.
That is _done_ for Your ptocertion -w- becouse some_of_our
members no legnor have acescs to their email adrsdeses
and we must verify it.

(Right here is where the link to the input page was)

To veerify your email adress and acces _your_ Citi-Card
account, click on _the link below.

Can you say spell checker? I couldn't stop laughing while reading it. I am going to E-mail this to Citi Bank and let them take care of it. I'm not going to click on the link in the mail. Even though I have ZAPro and up to date Norton I don't want to risk it. So if you get one of these E-mail's DO NOT click on the link it provides and fill out the info!

I got one of those last week. Apart from the horrid spelling and grammar, I thought it was a very good scam that could get a lot of people. When you click on the link, it takes you to a web site that does two things: it opens up a small window prompting you for your bank number and password and it redirects the main window to the actual citibank web site. I thought it was very creative the way they had the main window actually take you to the citibank web site.
