I just purchased a Dfi NforceII ultra-B. To take the place of my frankenstien MSI kt4ultra. My system is a 2500+ , maze 3 with a 226wt pelt. I have a 500 gph water pump, tranny radiator w/4-120mm fans, and a custom 3 bay reservoir that reaches to my power suppy. Basicly I have the water cooling down, I goin to order the www.polarflo.com chipset wb for my NB cooling with a 80 watt pelt that i allready have. I am curious as to what you guys think about this little project. I am in the market to buy a power supply from www.XPcases.com. I do need some memory from Corsair. I read the post on the 5250Ghz P4 and they used the XMS-4500, do i need to get this memory to achieve this type of overclock? or will 3200-XMS work? also will an 80 watt pelt suffice on the NB. Do you guys think I will be able to hit 3.0Ghz+ with this setup.
I have tried using dry ice in a bucket and i got the mobo to hit around 2.7+ then i got alien letters in bios. That was on the KT-400. And now i have pci locks with DFI, so i wont skramble the hDD again.
If you guys have any suggestions I would appreciate it.
MY web site has around 60 pix all thumbnailed of the HYBRID DREAM. http://members.cox.net/evolvenetworks/

Ill be glad to answer any supercooling/case mod questions you guys have.

I do have a suggestion, maybe just watercool the northbridge, and use the pelt on your GPU, if you could overclock that alot, that might be better than the northbridge. Oh wait, is this a locked 2500? If so then NM, if you want 3.0ghz you will need alot of FSB.

my 2500+ is so choice. I dont have the stepping off hand but its a green oem chip that has a white/blue core color. Its not locked at all.
I was thinking of getting the AIW9800pro and water cooling that with a pelt also. But i need to collect all the parts before I redo the hose layout and drain the system
what steppings were you using to hit the 2.7 on old mother board.
i think if you could get that good on the other board you might be able to get it to load with new setup
being a unlocked cpu will help out, can try different multipliers & FSB combinations.
i am interested to see what cpu wattage the 226w tec can handle though
with 2.7Ghz and vcore 2.15v its around 134w (most people say 2xcpu ie need a 270w tec, can increase volts to tec to work betta), maybe too much heat to keep the temps down even with that radiator
with 2.15v and a 113w cpu my temps hit 35 deg
your setup is a lot better than mine thoguh
interested to hear your results

to have 3ghz from a cpu with 226w tec you must do 2700mhz at least at 1.7v....

Dude i used to have that case. I has so much room, glad to see your are putting it to good use. Keep up the good work!

I have a special PSU for the pelt . The DFI board kan take up to 300FSB. Im just trying to figure out which ram to get at this point. I can borrow a stick of corsair 3200 DDR400 CL2. And see how far i kan push it until i hit the ram wall. But to open the FSB up to 300 is my goal, then then up the multipliers as high as they can go. I am goin to get a new 500 watt psu and the 80 watt pelts can run off that. Im goin off the specs of the 5GHZ project as far as ram goes(they used corsair 4500)(i kant seem to find) i need the one that will run fastest =PERIOD.

I sort of doubt you'll get 3ghz. That's be nice though. So you got 2.7 w/ 225watt pelt? pretty darn good. I'll be happy to hear if the DFI boards like running the cpu that high. They are monsters for fsb, but at least head to head in cpu clocks against other boards they do not do so well. THey are too new to know definitively though.
I have a blue core that is a great overclocker with that blue core (green) but it is over week 40 and therefore locked :(
good luck to you though!

i have mine at 2.8ghz 2v with a 226w tec at only 10v, but i use also 3° water

People seem to be getting some pretty good barton overclocks these days - hell, I am gunning for one. 2.5-2.7 is attainable these days with the right chip, cooling and parts combinations. But 3hz is quite a barrier for AMD's. THere have been precious few chips that have done it - can probably count them on one hand, and several of those are stable ONLY for quick benchmarks. I maintain that outside of a "miracle chip" cominbed with super cooling, we are not going to see 3hz+ with any regularity for some time to come. I'm no defeatest, though. I hope it is sooner rather tahan later, and I will be helping lead teh push if I can. Nice overclock to 2.8btw. Gota stepping code?

AQXEA 0329mpmw number in the wafer 035x (don't remember the last digit, think a 1)
also have a 2600+ that gets highter clocks but it's locked and my mobo doesn't like a lot 11.5x multiplier, so at 240mhz of bus isn't 3d stable... with 11x for example it's stable over 245mhz

for ram i would recommend trying to find bh-5 chips if you still can. Mushkin had them and i have found that they are amazing overclockers compared to the newer chips. unfortunatly newegg is pretty much out of them but i would try ebay.

I think you have a good overclocker. I heard that the cores color that it shines in the light affects the overclocking. I just heard it from someone else on this forum, so not sure how true it is.
Anyways, starting worst to best, I think it goes Red>Purple>Blue>no color in the light.

Yeah, you would easily be able to use an 80 watt pelt on the northbridge. I have an 80watter cooling my 9600xt to 0 degrees C right with a stock amd heat sink and fan on it.

Hey ManicHaze,
WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!
Its nice to have you on here!
Back to the topic, A 80 watt pelt will suffice.
Best of luck!

yah i just bought a AIW9800PRO for 350$ at the local computer show. And its working well. I just need to buy the chipset water block and the vga block and a new lucite top for the WB. And im goin to try and hit 3ghz. I just need to find some good memory.

I hope you see decent clocks with the AIW. As far as I know, the AIW's tend to get lower clocks due to the Coax cicuitry and heat. You may have been better off getting a 9800p and then a pci or usb tuner. I use a kworld usb tv tuner, got it for $35 from newegg refurb.
Just a question. What kind of temps is the pelt on your cpu getting you?
