I have a cubx board and a Plll 800EB and want to overclock. Have generic pc133 ram (2 sticks of 128ram)
can I get this thing overclocked any. A friend said the 800EB stops me from overclocking or may be the ram. Can not get it pushed. Help! Should I invest in better ram or what. It is running at 800 now

The P3EB's aren't the OCer's fave, 'cause their 133 Mhz FSB as standard doesn't leave a lot of daylight between 133 and 150 Mhz--which was the "standard ceiling" before the i815 chipset hit the shelves. The CUBX is almost the same as the P3B-F. Leaving the different trace lengths, hotter PLL Clock Chip and UDMA/66 out of the picture, the boards are nearly identical. Alas, the CUBX doesn't attain the famed stability of it's Slot 1 predecessor. That's progress..
Preamble aside, the only choices in FSB beyond 133 Mhz on the CUBX are 140 and 150 Mhz. If you have an AGP Vidcard that's fireproof, in a manner of speaking at least that won't hold you back. 140 Mhz FSB gives you a PCI Bus speed of 35 Mhz. Many IDE HDD's and PCI cards will handle this much of an overclock. 150 Mhz FSB is asking the PCI Bus to run at 37.5 Mhz. PCI cards and HDD's are less forgiving at this freq.
I suggest installing a hefty HSF/high quality thermal paste on your processor and making sure that your case throughput is 40+ cfm. Then raising your Core Voltage won't be a dangerous operation, and upping the FSB just might do the trick. Generic PC-133 can flat out refuse to run at 135 Mhz. High Q CAS2 PC-133 is still reasonably priced.
There isn't any shame in running an EB at "stock." I plan on doing so when I can afford an 800EB! Happy OCing!
