I just put together one of these kits, and it'll run w/433 Cel but not my 566 FC-PGA, that I'd like to overclock. All I get is a blank monitor w/the 566, no beeps, no nothing.I'm running the 566 on another board at 893 so I know it runs & overclocks.. Tigerdirect's tech support insists that the board should run my 566, no problem, but thinks the reason mine wont run is some kind of mobo/"core" incompatability problem. Does anybody out there have experience with this kit running an FC-PGA Cel II, and if so, will this board overclock, ?- (it does have manual jumper settings for 66-133fsb speeds). I dont know whether to send this thing back or try a different Cel II cpu...

If you want to overclock you will need something else.

Terry..do you know for a fact that this board wont overclock ? Mind you, I'm not looking for a good overclocking mobo, just one that'll get me 200-300 extra mhz out of an inexpensive Celeron so I dont have to pop for a P3. How do you differentiate a board that'll oc from one that wont ? Wont setting the FSB speeds higher with the manual jumpers oc the board, the same as it would if I increased FSB speeds on my Soyo in the bios menu ? What's the difference ? (I'm not being argumentative, I'd really like to know what the differences are) Also, apologies for this post appearing twice in somewhat varied form. I didn't think my first entry had been posted, and so entered another.

No argument here....I wasn't referring to the board's capabilities (I've never seen one) but the problem with your chip working. If I had a nickle for every "tech support" that didn't have a clue I'd be rich :) I think my best response is to read the recently posted article by Ed on computer building basics.
