View Full Version : Better stability at lower voltages?

I've just started to experiement with my system and I've noticed that it fails much more quickly in Prime95 if I set the VCORE or VDIMM higher. Is this a weird fluke? Should I try undervolting my CPU for more stability?
Maybe you are running hot and very close to the edge of stability, then upping the voltage makes more heat and makes it fail? What are your temps?

CPU: 34C Idle (OC'ed), 41C P95 Load (OC'ed)
System: 18C Idle, 22C Load
Reported by SpeedFan and verified with BIOS.
Guess not. That's really a strange problem.
Not really. I run my processors at 1.55 V and they are supposed to be at 1.75 V. Been running this way for quite some time without any problems.

Are they overclocked?
Not currently but I can run them just as stable at that voltage overclocked.

My palomino fails just after logging into windows @1.63Ghz with the voltage set to max (it's watercooled, so temp is not an issue) and has run perfectly for a month at its default voltage...go figure.
