View Full Version : Finally, Celeron II 600 is stable at 1009! I feel like celebrating!
Tried burning this thing in for weeks at 600 with 2.0v but no matter what I did it wasn't stable. Even at 1.95v everything was stable except Prime95. I knew cooling wasn't the issue since I have a PEP66 w/ Acrtic Silver and good case ventilation. With a thermal probe attached to CPU temps never rose above 34C under load so I figured maybe I hit my chips limit. On a whim I got an MSI master slocket to try in place of the Abit Slocket!!!. WOOHOO! Now everthing is rock stable at 1.9v including Prime95. The Abit was great up to 103FSB but for some reason at 112 it just wasn't stable. I would recommend the MSI slocket highly!

You know, the more I hear about that Abit !!! slocket, the more I'm starting to really think it's a POS!
I have one, under my C600/945, and have never had a problem w/ it. I bought the chip "pretested" for 945, so it's not "holding the chip back"...it just won't go any higher. I had it in my Soltek SL02A++ and 945...no more.
I'm selling it w/ the 600/945 to a co-worker as a package. Well, I'm building a rig for him around it. It's almost set to go, and he's saving up his pennies.
The more I hear about those Abit slockets though...the more I'm thinking, "GOOD RIDDANCE".
Seems like everyone is having stability problems with them when they hit around 950 MHz or so.
I psyched for ya that you "hit the Gig", but I tell ya what....(you're gonna like this part)
I had 1009 w/ the C600 listed in my "sig", and after a while of 112 FSB, it got a bit faster. and then a bit more again. I was giving it a bit more vcore than you are, and I really don't recommend that you go higher than you are now.
The point I guess I'm trying to make is; Given some time running there, and a bit more burn in, that one might make 115 FSB......you'll find out. Keep trying it every so often....nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Congrats on the Gig. WTG !!!!

I know my current ABit slocket sucks. Allows me NOT to overclock no matter how I try to set it up. The generic I had before this was great.....but alas burned out and the next generation generic slocket was incompatable with my P3V4X. =(

I was running a while ago now a Celeron 400@450 on an AOpen AX6BC with a no name brand, it coughed it farted it was all over the place, I switched to the MSI and it became as solid as a rock.

Only problem with this Mr B is I'm running it on a BH6 motherboard. My next FSB selection above 112 is 124. I don't think that's gonna happen. But I am quite pleased with what I have now.

Have you looked into downloading H. Oda's SoftFSB program? If you haven't you should look into it.
When I was still using the A-Trend mb , the selections in the BIOS jumped from 103 to 112 to 124 if I remember right.
I used the SoftFSB. Found a listing in the program for motherboards that would work with the oddball A-Trend, as it wasn't listed. Gave me options of 105,110,115,and 118 if memory serves.
I can't say wether or not it would work for you. but I remember a bunch of Abit mb's listed in the options....one might work, and give you another step or two in between.
Just a thought...
Mr B
Thanks Mr B I'll get Soft FSB and look into it. Who knows, maybe I can say 1009 and climbing?
