I have some cheap and basic slotket here, doesn't have anything to fiddle with on it. I don't think it's going to get me to 950, even though it says it takes 133 coppermines...I could be wrong... is the asus decent?

I don't have very much experience with the Asus, although I know they usually make excellent products. I have an Abit SLOTKET !!! and I've had no problems with it so far. It has adjustable FSB and Voltage jumpers right on it, so I can OC pretty easily, although I'm still waiting for my Alpha and case fans....

The Asus is good, just make sure you get the "DL" version. The Iwill is also a good one.

There's nothing write on the adapter?

I ask you coz Asus's have written brand and code like S370-133 or S370-L, and also have a lot of jumpers to set voltages (1.50-2.60v) and/or Cpu (Coppermine or Celeron).

I have an Asus s370-dl and have no problems with it, basically as long as you get a quality brand name with voltage adjustment and maybe bus selection you will be fine as there isn't much between them

I have read nothing but good things about the MSI. Seems to be the best "compatible" slocket. I personally have an Abit. I bought mine from Overclockedcpus (http://www.overclockedcpus.com)...they stock both.

Anything from Asus, IWill, Solket and Abit (the earlier revision slotket III's are very good, the later ones aren't)

Soltek SL02A++

I've been reading all kinds of post about the Abit !!! holding people back. the get a different slocket (Asus, IWill, Soltek, MSI....) and all of a sudden they have like 50+MHz they never had before.

I've had the Soltek since day 1 w/ my Celeron 600. Not a spot of trouble.

I would have to vote for the MSI 6905 master. I just swapped this for the Abit I had in and now can run my Celly II 600 at 1009 with 1.9v rock stable. With the Abit it wasn't even stable with 1.95v. Don't know about the Asus or Soltek. MR B seems to like his Soltek so that's a vote of confidence for the Soltek. I personally would avoid the Abit

MSI 6905 Master. I have version 2.2. I have a c600 at 1008 out of the box with retail hsf. I've heard a lot of people having problems with the Abit slocket. Asus should be ok though I haven't tried one yet. Soltek also should be ok though they're a bit hard to come by.

I previously had a c366@550 somewhat stable unable to survive prime95 torture test. Replaced my 3rd generic sloket with the MSI. No problems after that.

I keep hearing how wonderful the Abit card is....but I'm holding one in my hand that is NOT overclockable. pins for voltage and 66/100/133 mhz only...but no matter how you set the pins nor weather the jumpers are even ON the board will give you a bios option to OC.

This one is FC370 V 1.1

get the asus -dl slotket. The dl's don't have plastic along the top, and they are more secure in the slot holders (on my p3v4x IMO ;) ) than the -133

I recently tried out the Abit, Iwill, and MSI slockets and the MSI was more stable for me at speeds above 150 FSB.

Abit is the best in most circles, I had one and it worked fine.

I even have it for sale if you're interested? ; )

upgraded to PIII slot 1 so I don't need my celeron FCPGA anymore.

I picked up an Iwill SlocketII and it works just fine. Jumper Vcore setting is easy to figure out, and the jumpers have long handles too.
