Okay here's the rig:

Asus A7N8X-VM400
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
512 DDR
WD 40gig with 8meg buffer
Lite-on 16x DVD combo drive
Floppy
2x 60mm fans
Sparkle Power 200watt Micro-ATX psu
Athenatech Micro-ATX tower

Problem:

Random Lockups
Random Restarts
Artifacting

The 5v line runs around 4.84v
The 12v line runs around 11.5v

Do I need more power? There is a Sparkle 270watt Micro-ATX psu available.

I would say yes. You need more power. Your 5v and 12v are too low.

I would agree. The 5v line doesn't look too bad. Mine is around there and I haven't experienced random lockups, artifacting and whatnot...the 12v line is low though. The psu I'm using here is a 350w antec

So would a better PSU fix the problems, and would the Sparkle 270 watt cover it?

A bigger psu might fix your problems.
Think that 270w might be to small too. But I'm not sure about this.

You might get some use from an upgrade... IIRC that board powers the CPU from the 5v, which strikes me as a bit weak on the 200w Sparkles. The 270w Sparkle is about the only thing I can think of to upgrade to, but I'd still check the rails with a meter to be sure it's a power problem.

Well I put it into a different case with an Antec True 330. Guess what still the same problems. Motherboard problems maybe?

More Power ARR, ARR, ARR!

I would upgrade your PS if I were you.

Using the onboard video? Could be a memory timing or compatibility issue methinks. The PSU has been effectively ruled out, so mem is where I'd check next.

I would check your cooling, it seems like a cooling issue to me.

Those +5v and +12v values you listed are within the
5% ATX standard. (11.40-12.60 ... 4.75-5.25) :)

Agree that it might be a cooling issue as some of those
micro ATX cases are tight inside.
