I have a P3 800, my multiplier is locked at 6 and my frontside bus only goes up to 150. I have a Abit VH6 Mobo with the original bios. When my fronside bus is set to 150 i overclock to 901 but im sure the chip can do more... any suggestions?

You should flash the bios to the latest rev, it may give a few more options.

get a new cpu or mobo if the patch doesn't work. Kinda obvious

Can your ram handle it? Also i doubt i bios update will give you a 170+ option but im sure you'll tell me if im wrong. My bios update got me a 155mhz bus option (5mhz more than before) but my pc133 generic couldnt handle it. Oh well life goes on.

btw i have the same chip, my mobo maxed out @150 before i flashed it so 900 is what im staying at.

I have the same chip and your right. There is more to it. With descent cooling the 950 range is pretty stable. Great cooling will have you over a gig. But that will all depend on the mobo options. My CUSL2 is a good one for oc'n the chip. A nice option is telling my pc133 ram to run as pc100 then overclocking it back up to around 133. And as far as fsb options the sky is the limit pretty much with this board. I forget what the highest is but I rember seeing numbers that would put the processor at 1.2ghz.

I would also like to take this opportunity to defend this chip as I have seen a lot of negative things written about it. First off its well known the p3's don't like to go higher than 1.13 ghz. With awsome cooling and the right board this chip can reach that figure with the highest FSB speed, which also effects performance. I am not saying the 700E is not the king of overclocking but just that this chip pacts some seriose punch as well if used correctly.
