I'm thinking about getting a new case with a little better air flow than the one I have now, and I was hoping you guys could help me out. Here's what I'm looking for:

1. 120mm intake and exhaust - I don't really want to do any extra modding for this.

2. Mid-tower - I move my computer around quite a bit, so I don't want anything too bulky.

3. Fairly cheap - I'm really not looking to spend more than $40. The Sonata and Lanboy look nice, but those are a little out of my price range.

3. Can be steel or aluminum, doesn't really matter to me. But I would probably go for steel as it would be cheaper. The extra weight doesn't bother me.

4. No window - This isn't too important, but I would rather not have a window. I'm not really into that.

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Check out this thread (http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=3606) from Silent PC Review. It has a good listing of 120mm capable cases, thanks to Katana Man (a member of this forum).

Basically, anything new by Antec fits your bill except for your price range. I don't believe any case like this will come near $40. For $40 you may be able to get a case with 2x80mm fans, or maybe even 3x80mm fans, but I havn't seen any real cheap (new) cases with 120mm fans/fan mounts.

The Antec SLK3700AMB is a very fine, very well constructed case that does cost too much. It ships with a Solution-Series 350W PSU if that helps you any. The price of this case has varied alot, especially at NewEgg, which has sold it for $55-shipped before but now is at $78-shipped.

Thanks for the link GoodKarma. Some pretty good cases to look at there.

Yeah I really like the SLK3700 but it's just hard for me to justify spending over like $50 for a case I don' realy need. I think you're right Speed_Mechanic2, I'm probably not going to find anything in my price range, so i think i may just cut up my case to have it fit 120mm fans. I know I said I didn't want to mod, but it's going to be a ton cheaper to do it this way. Might be kinda fun too.

Thanks for the help though guys. But, if anyone still finds any good deals I'd still take a look. Thanks. :)

Ah, if you don't need the included PSU, the CompuCase LX6A19 is the same design as the Antec SLK3700-series.

The case I have now is the one that is currently in cyberdeals. The Skyhawk 4692, although I got mine a year ago. I went ahead and cut the holes for the 120's and it came out fairly well. I will attach some pics later if anyone is interested.

I bought this case from the recommendations of other people and haven't regretted it since. It is shorter than my Chieftec midtower but still has all of the drive capacity. The ONLY thing that is slightly bad about it is the case material. No aluminum available, only steel. Even with that I LOVE it. I put some sound deadening material on the insides, put a duct in the side for my heatsink and I am getting 40C loads with my 1700+ running at 2.2ghz on an SK7 with TT smart fan2 at full speed. My room is kinda warm though. Air flow in this case is awesome!

Definitely a recommended buy if you don't need a power supply.
