I´m going to buy this machine
Asus CUV4x + PIII 733 128RAM

Does anybody recommend it, or would you rather buy an Athlon? But then, which mobo?

i bought this board for my g/f...had to send it back to asus. they claimed nothing was wrong. i got it back, its fine.
asus did something im sure. heres a link about that board. ive heard good things about it although its not fully done yet...just need a cpu...

Your mommyboard is "okay", but about the CPU..... what are you planning to do with it? Are you going to overclock the hell up? or just use as default speed?
If you're going to overclock, then that CPU sux. would be a sux choice.

Yes, probably overclock, but not much - just to learn how to do it. Maybe I´ll buy an Athlon 750 or 800 with an A7V (if my budget allows), what do you think?

Well all I know about the PIII 733 and the Asus Cuv4x combo, is that it is great. I have the EXACT same config (That is why it caught my eye), and I will here by rank some things out of 10 for ya:

Stability 9
Performance 8.5
Durability 9
Overclocker friendly 9
Boot Time 11 :D

It is an all around great board, and would rank it overall about 90%, but one thing that stands out A LOT about this config, is the boot time. With all my software loaded, I can be in Windows 98SE, and not still loading anything, in 22 seconds (I timed it)
