I just put a VGA Silencer and some RAMsinks on my 9800np, but I didn't look at the RAM chips to see what kind they are. The only thing I can remember is that they were Samsung. If I got a bios for a card with 3.3ns RAM, but my card actually had 2.86ns, what would happen? I'd be getting the bios so I could falsh to a 9800 Pro.
EDIT: I just found the answer in the guide to Softmodding thread. I guess you can't softmod the 9800np to Pro
The 9800NP-Pro BIOS flash is not really soft-modding, it's just flashing a different BIOS.
First try overclocking your card to see how fast the memory can go. If you can do 330-340 on the memory as a NP, then try flashing to a Pro, if you can't get to ~330 stable, then don't bother.
An IF you had Samsung 2.86ns chips, NOTHING bad would happen, in fact you'd most likely be able to overclock farther than someone with 3.3ns chips like me.
I don't think there's any technical difference between Samsung 2.8ns and Samsung 3.3ns other than the grade that the mfr decided to put the chips in; you should be fine flashing.

Oh okay, thanks. The highest I can go right now is 405/342, so I'll try to flash to Pro. Thanks for the help.
