Give the L2 more volts, and it will fly. I've heard of many people pulling off 250 FSB 1:1 @ 2-2-2-6. There's actually a thread right now on xtremesystems about the highest BH5 has gone. The current record is 366mhz 1:1.

Not bad, right?

It was doing that at 2.5-2-2-5.

I'd go with the L2 ;).

For some reason those links have false timings listed. The Mushkin site shows it as CL3 and best I know the timings for the Mushkin pc4000 is 3,4,4,8 not 2,3,2.

do the mod its pretty simple for that board. 3.2 volts oughta let you run up to 290-5/4 )(232)i got 232 out of some bh6 check my thread. then if that doesnt work u can always sell em. and if u do, id look into some stuff that will get u 290 1-1 cause 250 5/4 with loose timings aint gonna get it...

doing the vdimm mod is seeming more and more safe to me. Since vdimm is pulled from the 3.3v rail, and any (Decent) memory should be able to handle 3.3v, it couldn't be [i]too[/b] bad.

With the mod though...definately go 1:1. You'll get much better performance than with a divider. Macci (on xtremesystems, again) outscores at 4300 1:1 vs. 4700 5:4.

i agree with u(even tho you'll get some strong abd reasoned disagreements) when pc 4000 first come out it costed a fortune. but now you can get quality stuff pretty inexpensively. incidently, i did a 1-1(3-4-4-8) and 5/4( 2-3-3-5) comparison for a fellow a while back and the 1-1 beat by 400 points. im willing to conceed that sandra isnt the definitive last word, but 400 pts is significant. the only issue would be finding some ram that is capable of 290+. with some of the real good 2.4c's,without some good luck, you might have a hard time finding some memory that would run that fast without having to buy some of the expensive highly speed binned ocz or corsair pc4400/4500.
