Voltage change for fans

I saw an article in a magazine I was reading about switching the location of the wires on a molex plug to make the fans be slower/quieter. Anyone got a link to the online version with images (I remember them being really easy to use).

I don't have what you are asking for but I can tell you this. It is very easy to do.

Make sure that you use a power leg from the power supply that is not used for any drives.

If you look at the molex for the fan, you will see that one lead goes to yellow and the other to black. Put the black on to red instead. That is to say, the 2 outside wires are used. Yellow and red.

Yellow = 12 volt
Red = 5 volt

12 -5 =7 volt

I use a small jewlers screw driver to take the molex apart.
