View Full Version : Kind of a stupid CPU temp question, but I really want to know.

When you stick a Socket-370 CPU onto a slotket adapter, does the built-in temperature monitor still work? Like, I get a "value" for CPU temp using a proggie like MBM or Aopen System Monitor, but I dunno if this temp is valid? Do slotkets pass the temp reading on the CPU on to the slot1 mobo?

I believe there is a write up on overclockers main page...might have to scroll down a little, that explains some truths about just that very subject.
It might be smarter to use a thermal probe...but I didn't read the article yet....so check it out, you might be surprised
The CPU temp sensor is a thermistor located within extremely close proximity of the socket or in this case, the slot. I'm not familiar with the exact location on your motherboard, but I suspect it's probably NOT giving you an accurate CPU temp. However, you are getting a system or motherboard reading, so in that respect, it is valid for that, just not as a CPU reading.

I believe that the Intel CPUs have an internal temperature diode.
