So, I got an Athlon xp 1800+ a while ago and I want to unlock the multi on this puppy and crank it a little...Ive got an Abit KT-7A so it should be easy to OC, but the multiplyer doesn't go that high on this board so I'm limited by that without voltmoding it.

But I can't figure out exactly what kind of chip I have and how to OC it.. Here's the numbers....

AMD XP 1800+

AXDA1800LT3C
9806296280854
JIUHB0307VPMW
1.53 v

By my research I'm sure its a Thouroughbred. But here's the thing that's throwing me.......Its green.... and all the aricles I've read about OCing the T-breds shows a slightly different chip... that is its usually brown and the laser etched pits on the surface are in different places..

Mine for instance has no pits at all on the row of L1 cache things (what do you call those anyway?)

So do I need to do the old conductive paint/pen trick and connect the L1 cache things or do I need to do the L5 U-shaped mark around the pit method to unlock this fella?

thanks guys.

It is a great overclocking chip and its a TbredB DLT3C (1.5vcore). The multiplier on this thing is unlock so you don't have to do anything to the L1s

Looks like you got one of those legendary chips. Make sure you have good ram, so you can up the FSB all the way. If you don't, just go high with the multiplier.

Thing is, is I can't seam to get the multiplier to change. It seams loocked to me....

what am I doing wrong....

I uped the FSB as much as I can and when I choose a higher multi than 11.5 it doesn't take and the chip runs at the same speed...

??

thanks for the help guys....what do I do now?
