ok this has never happened to me before, ok i was runing sandras 2004 on my computer, the install goes fine, but after that when i try to run it...it says "error cannot initialise database! Make sure file ok; install latest MDAC" i think i lost a few files during a system restore or after i had to use the windows disk to repair windows...

where can i get MDAC and do you think its time to do a clean install for me? i dunno why its gone like thsi before the windows repair(last night) sandras would run normally but maybe its not serious...anyone know? every other thing works fine....

help! im scared, in a corner staring at my computer thinking about its future.... ! ;) :p

(oh and i also tried to reinstall it MANY times...)

thx in advance

Hi,

I don't know. U said the problem occured when you tried to install Sandra. But it worked before...
So, the questions are :
why did you need to repair windows in the first place, is this particular problem solved, and how did you proceed for that repair ?

well the problem was that windows could not find a file required to start after a reboot i did... so i popped in the windows cd and went into the install and selected repair (not the repair in the first spash screen, the repair after it scans the hdd for windows os) so from what i know the repair takes out all files that it sees as different from the cd than replaces tham using its own files, which means after the repair i did a lot of windows updates. anyways the problem was solved

Hi,

I found sthg about your MDAC, which apparently stands for "Microsoft Data Access Components" and can be found on their site, right here (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6c050fe3-c795-4b7d-b037-185d0506396c&displaylang=en) :)

You could Dl it and see if that works...

Let us know

This happened to me when I had Win98. I installed the new MDAC and all was fine.
