Once I pull the slot1 card how do I get the black cover thing off to get to the bare processor? I pulled off the HS and Fan and pulled out the card but i dont see any screws or clips that holds the black plastic cover that covers the cpu. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey Chad, welcome to the forums!!
I need a bit more info....P// or P///?
Theres info on how to remove either one on the front page, in the "Tips and Techniques" section. Look in the Cpu tips, at the bottom of the list.
If the chip is a P///, reply here...there used to be a tip posted on how to remove the sink by using a case screw, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. This works great for the P///, and doesn't damage the plastic retainers. That way if you ever decide to sell the cpu later, you can re-install the intel hsf.
If it's a P///, reply, and I'll walk you through it.....

Mr B....here's the article you refered to.
http://www.overclockers.com/tips33/
It works both on PII and PIII. I've posted it else where, but guess we keep missing each other.
I know it works on both, as I'm sure you remember my little experiment recently. =)

Again I want to thank everyone for helping me with this. I do still have one problem. My processor, hs, fan and etc. all look a little bit different. Only one small metal clip holds the hs to the big black plastic cover that covers the cpu/board and 4 small plastic snap clips hold the fan to the hs. I can pull the HS/Fan combo off by releasing the one metal clip. Now I am left with my cpu/board incased in a big black plastic/metal combo. I think where i am trying to go with this is do i actually need to get to my bare cpu to attatch a waterblock or can i attatch the waterblock to the metal side (where the hs/fan clips to) of the black cover that covers the cpu/board? I am somewhat new to all this so any help will be greatly appreciated. I will pull my cpu and post some pics on what it looks like!

cooling the metal side of your processor should be fine if you can get it cool enough. Water cooling would definitely do the trick. It wouldn't be necessary to remove the plastic case, as I've seen blocks that attach with the case in tact. Can't direct you to a site tho, it's been a while since I've seen it myself.
hopefully someone more qualified can answer you.
Sorry about the assumption that you had the "pin" type processor, I totally forgot about those clip types.
