a few weeks ago my harddisk was burnt. after replacing it with a new one, it looks like the computer doesn't recognize the harddisk - it asks for boot disk at startup and there's no hard disk identified in the bios.. i've checked a few time the connections and i dont think that's the problem.
right now i dont have any computer around with SATA connection to try it on, nor another SATA cable.. is there anything else worth trying ?

There should be an option in your BIOS to boot to the SATA device. Have you checked this?

I ahve seen many a burnt drive. Usually the replacement includes at bare minimum the mobo too
