Opteron 1.6ghz vs Athlon 2000+ 1.6ghz

Very simple question, are these running the same ghz? Or are the opterons a faster 1.6ghz? Explain?

MHz mean nothing alone.
Its MHz and IPC's (Instructions Per Clock Cycle) together that determine how fast a CPU is (mainly)

That is why AMD Athlons and P3's are faster than P4's at the same clock speed. P4's have a low IPC

Well my dual Opteron 242 (1.6 GHz) setup is noticeably faster than my dual MP2600 (2.133 GHz) setup. It benches faster than my previous MSI K7D Master L AMD duallie with two MP-modded XP2600s running at 2.3 GHz also.
