Welcome to the forums!!!

You can get a second NIC on your main computer (the one with the internet connection) and use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) but it's not very good. I would get a router/switch and plug both into it. Much easier and you can get a router/switch for under $50. This might not be the most economical way but it will save you in headaches trying to set up ICS to work and even then you'll probably have problems.

How do you connect to the internet? If it's boradband then use the following:

Internet --> cable/DSL modem --> NIC --> computer A --> NIC --> null cable --> NIC --> computer B

**Note: 2 NICs for computer A.

OR

Internet --> cable/DSL modem --> router --> NIC x 2 (one for each machine) -->computer A & B

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you use dial-up, it would look more like this:

Internet --> modem --> computer A --> NIC --> null cable --> NIC --> computer B

OR

Internet --> modem --> computer A --> NIC --> hub/switch --> NIC --> computer B

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In either case, the option with the null cable is the least desired but it IS the cheapest.

Here is a cheap router for you.

Office Max D Link
DLink Rtr 4 Port Router with integrated 4 Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch $19.99 2/1/2004 -
2/7/2004 Price after $10 mail in rebate

And remember that most weeks in your sale ads wi-fi routers are cheaper than wired. If it were me I would get one of those. You can disable the wi-fi and you still get a cheap 4 port wired router out of the deal.
