my current rig is in my sig
for those that know me, i know, it's been a while
i was just wondering where's the cheapest place to pick up a 3200+ Barton(2.2, 400)
i've found it as cheap as $198.00(US) using pricewatch
also, what are some(if any) good steppings, and what kind of results are you all getting on air? (i've checked the records, but some are hard to believe)
thx

Hi Molester,
All newer "Barton" chips are locked. I would go with a AMD Barton 2500 over your AMD Barton 3200 as you can OC the 2500 to the same speed as the 3200. Actually I have mine pushed farther then the 3200.
I'd say if you are going with the 3200 check out pricewatch like you did or newegg.com.
Not sure about steppings.......
I'm getting pretty good results on air. I'll be using water cooling by the end of the week though. Right now my CPU temp does not go past 41ºC under full load. I mean I have a 2500, but it's pushed farther then a stock 3200.

I just wanted to mention that for $11 more dollars you could buy the Athlon 64 3000...

not willing to go 64 till pci-x is standard, and when they have better chips available, better boards, and full 64 bit windows
last but not least, ram to be able to match that 1600mhz fsb

shouldn't be too long, my friend was already beta testing windows longhorn was it? said it was both 64/32 and pretty good...
-do the motherboards support the full 1600 fsb, and what are current athlon 64 owners using for memory?
